Daylight to Dark- THE EXTENDED DIRECTORS CUT
Since the premier date of October 4th and the limited theatrical run, messages have been swarming in to our team here at MTS Pictures with one question: “How can I see Daylight to Dark?”. The film is scheduled to be released to streaming early 2025 across all major streaming platforms as well as physical media release to most major retailers. But what’s the holdup?
The success of the film and along with the theatrical run didn't stop top streaming platforms from rejecting the film due to its lengthy runtime. A runtime of over two hours! When you think about it, that’s quite a bit of screen time for any film: BUT ESPECIALLY for an independent. Luckily, we came up with the perfect solution!
The films, Director, Jake C. Young and story creator (writer of the predecessor, American vampire) Rollin Jewett, we’re both approached with this task. Under Jets of pressure and the advice of Jewett, Jake C. Young ordered the film to be cut down with a more appeasing runtime of around 100 minutes, still leaving the film with its suggested R rating. Jake C. Young stated that "You will be able to see both versions of the film!"
One version: the intended streaming/ theatrical portion for moviegoers who enjoy more fast paced style story with out loosing key elements of the story. But for extreme cinema lovers, they will also receive an extended director's cut of the film. The DC will be the original runtime of over two hours! Yes, you heard that correctly, DAYLIGHT TO DARK will be releasing 2 versions of the film!
In the meantime, if you want to catch a peek or get your hands on a physical copy, you can send us a message here at MTS pictures and schedule pre-orders for DVDs and other Daylight to Dark merchandise.
