From production company MTS Pictures and Director Jake C. Young (Daylight To Dark, The Dark Room, A Night Of The Undead) comes Souls Chapel, a story of a drifter cutting through the backwoods of Kentucky in search of gold fighting through a snow storm and eventually finding shelter in a small church called Soul’s Chapel. But will soon find out the fate that awaits him is anything but holy.

MTS Pictures announced recently that their film Souls Chapel will be available for streaming April 2026.  The film debuted in a league of its own at the first annual Black Mountain Film festival located in Somerset, Kentucky hosted at the historic Virginia Theatre. Since then the film has been picked up to be distributed to the public by Deskpop Entertainment.

On Sunday, January 11, 2026 MTS pictures released an open casting call to the public for the upcoming project titled: “Heartfrozen”.

On November 8, 2025, the historic Virginia Theater in downtown Somerset, Kentucky, hosted the public opening of the Black Mountain Film Festival. Presented by Black Mountain Studios, the event welcomed some of Appalachia’s most talented performers, filmmakers, and artists. Among the featured official selections was a locally produced film titled Souls Chapel, inspired by a real Somerset-area location known for its long history of reported paranormal activity and investigations. The production team was in attendance to represent the film. Director and lead performer, Jake C. Young, appeared on the festival carpet alongside members of the cast. Featured in the photos below are actors Adriana Curtsinger, Joseph McDowell, Darin Etner, Brandon Wilder, and the film’s writer and screenwriter, David Darring. Mr. Young was accompanied by his longtime partner, Karen J. Smiley.

It was announced earlier last month my director Jake C. Young, the newest film titled Souls Chapel would premiere at the historic Virginia theater in downtown Somerset Kentucky. Souls Chapel is a part of the premier lineup for the Black Mountain Film festival hosted by Black Mountain Studios. The festival will include lineups of many other films and Q&A panels with industry insight. Souls Chapel is set to make it's first premier to the public at the Virginia Theater at The BMFF. Souls chapel is based on real life location "Soules Chapel" located in the Somerset Kentucky area. When asked about the premier, the director, Jake C. Young had this to say:

He’s an actor, a director, and a cowboy and his name is Jake C. Young. Jake is a filmmaker from Southern Kentucky in the Lake Cumberland area. He has not only directed but starred in over 8 independent film such as The Dark Room, Daylight to Dark, and most recently, Souls Chapel. This summer Jake has journeyed the southern hemisphere is the United States attending conventions for his films. Jake attended the Legendary Brix Con Danville KY along side Megan Chelf Fisher and Comedian Eddie Deezan. Most recently he attended Charlie’s Summerfest in Fort Meyers Florida next to John Fiore from the hit television show, “The Sopranos”. Jake C. Young is sometimes referred to as “Jake Eastwood”. Jake is a distant cousin of the legendary actor/ director Clint Eastwood. Young is the descendant of Clint’s Great Grandmother, Emma Young.

On the first day of May, 2025 Daylight to Dark has officially hit streaming in all regions with a deal signing to release the film on physical media for most major online retailers. Daylight to Dark is a 2025 Horror/ Comedy film starring Tuesday Knight, written by Rollin Jewett (An American Vampire story) You can watch the film now free with ads on Tubi streaming app.
